Media Literacy 2.x: Employing Fair Use Educationally in a Remix Era | EDUCAUSE

Media Literacy 2.x: Employing Fair Use Educationally in a Remix Era | EDUCAUSE.

Digital practices in education—everything from remix assignments to posting of material on Blackboard—provide new challenges to educational copyright policies and stretch far past existing educational and library exemptions. The doctrine of fair use, which permits reuse of copyrighted material under some circumstances, has become an ever more vital tool. The best-practices model pioneered at American University has greatly expanded the utility of fair use for filmmakers, online video makers, media literacy teachers, archivists, and OpenCourseWare makers. Free mobile SMS service: Bullyproofing schools

“Some parents indicate cyberbullying is the source for their kids suicide”…
Spread the word and let’s get Bullyproof SMS software in schools…
it’s available for free!

How it Works:

Students text a report to a dedicated number and the report is then instantly forwarded to the appropriate person(s) mobile phone so they can respond in a timely manner. The report is also automatically forwarded via email to the school counsellor or principal. The Bullyproof SMS software comes preloaded with a database of tips and strategies for students that can be accessed by sending the keyword ‘bully tip 1,2,3,4 ‘etc to a dedicated number.
